  • Tahap 1 (@1997). Perkembangan e-commerce pasar B2B  mengalami peningkatan yang cukup tinggi pada periode ini. Perkembangan internet mengurangi peranan dari para perantara.
  • Tahap 2. (@1998). Muncul perusahaan perusahaan yang mengkhususkan diri untuk mempertemukan panjual dan pembeli dalam sector B2B
  • Tahap 3. (@2000). Perusahaan-perusahaan besar membuat suatu konsorsium untuk membuat suatu rantai pasok secara virtual. Hal ini dimulai dari industry otomotif di Amerika seperti : GM, Ford,Chrysler, Daimler. Di Inggris sendiri Alfred McAlpine , Pilkington dan BPB perusahaan yang memanfaatkan B2B

  • MRO hubs are horizontal e-marketplaces with long-term supply relationships for operating inputs
  • Catalogue hubs sell manufacturing inputs through a systematic sourcing system.
  • Yield managers are horizontal e-marketplaces for spot sourcing of operating inputs.
  • Exchanges are closely related to more traditional commodity exchanges.
CLASSIFICATION OF B2B E-MARKETPLACES BASED ON THEIR DEGREE OF OPENNESS
  • Public e-markets are generally owned and operated by a third-party provider
  • Consortia are typically jointly owned and operated by companies that participate in the online B2B exchanges
  • Private exchanges are the most restrictive e-marketplaces in providing access to other parties

Pasar B2C merupakan pasar yang sangat besar dalam pasar e-business, hal ini disebabkan pula oleh beberapa merek global seperti: Amazon.com dan E.Bay.

“MULTI-CHANNEL” RETAIL (B2C W/ B&M)
  • Exploit multiple marketing and distribution channels simultaneously
  • B&M (“bricks and mortar”) stores:  Customers browse on the web before going to the store.
  • Catalog sales, telephone, tv advertising,…
  • In 1999, multi-channel retailers (i.e., B&Ms or traditional catalog companies that also sell online) made up 62% of B2C e-commerce. 
  • Mostly high-margin sales, e.g., computers, tickets, and financial service.

Consumer-to-Consumer (C2C)

Customer to Customer (C2C), sometimes known as Consumer to Consumer, E-Commerce involves electronically-facilitated transactions  between individuals, often through a third party. One common example is online auctions, such as Ebay, where an individual can list an item for sale and other individuals can bid to purchase it.

E-BUSINESS MODELS

A business model can be defined as the organisation of product, service and information flows, and the sources of revenues and benefits for suppliers and customers. An e-business model is the adaptation of an organisation’s business model to the internet economy.

Through use of a business model, an organisation can identify where  and how in its value chain it can create added value and profit. A business model also enables a firm to analyse its environment more  effectively and thereby exploit the potential of its markets; better understand its customers; and raise entry barriers for rivals
